At Bisschops Industries, environmental responsibility means making better choices, every day, on every project, and in every department. For us, it’s not about lofty claims or far-off goals. It’s about the real, practical steps we take to reduce waste, use resources responsibly, and improve the way we work.
While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we also look around and find new inspiration all the time. These examples drive us to keep pushing, keep learning, and keep doing better, for our team, our clients, and our community.
Waste Reduction Starts with Awareness
Our efforts to reduce waste began when we noticed how much packaging material was piling up at one of our facilities. Instead of treating it as a cost of doing business, we treated it as an opportunity. By reviewing our processes and setting up proper recycling stations, we immediately reduced the amount of material going to landfill.
Now, we recycle old metal scraps and sort materials more efficiently. Seeing this change in action motivates us to explore even more ways to reuse materials and reduce what we throw away.
Smarter Energy Use Drives Real Results
Energy efficiency has always been a focus for us, not just to save on costs, but to improve how our systems run. When we upgraded our production equipment, we chose high-efficiency models that use less energy and deliver better results.
Since then, we’ve paid closer attention to how and when we use energy. Small changes in how we run machines, adjust lighting, or maintain equipment continue to make a difference. And when we learn about new tools that could help us go further, we take note. It’s a reminder that better energy habits start with the choices we make today.
Solar Energy: A Step That Changed Our Outlook
Installing solar panels at our main facility marked a turning point. Once the system went live, we immediately saw how much renewable energy could support our operations. This step didn’t just cut our electricity use, it opened our eyes to how cleaner power can play a real role in industrial work.
Even now, seeing the system in action reminds us to keep looking for smart, proven ways to reduce our reliance on traditional energy sources.
Saving Water by Thinking Differently
We also took a hard look at how we use water, especially in our manufacturing process. By updating our systems to reclaim and reuse water, we’ve cut down on waste and improved efficiency.
This change was technical, but the idea behind it was simple: use what you have wisely. Every time we reuse a gallon, it proves that small improvements—when done consistently—can make a big impact.
Environmental Responsibility Inspired by the Communities Around Us
Sustainability doesn’t stop at our door. Across Northern Ontario, we see people doing amazing things: local schools building greenhouses, organizations cleaning up waterways, and companies rethinking how they build. These efforts inspire us. They show what’s possible when people care deeply about where they live and work.
In turn, they push us to stay involved, to support local projects, and to bring those values into our own workspaces.
Building Better with What We’ve Learned
Every improvement we’ve made, whether in waste, energy, or water, has come from asking simple questions: What’s working? What isn’t? And how can we do better?
We keep those questions at the center of how we build, fabricate, and maintain. And while we’ve already made meaningful progress, we know there’s more we can do. Learning from others, staying curious, and keeping our eyes open keeps us on track.
Moving Forward, One Step at a Time
At Bisschops Industries, sustainability isn’t a finish line, it’s a mindset. It shows up in our decisions, in our shop, on our job sites, and in the way we train our teams.
The more we learn, the more we improve. And the more we improve, the more we can contribute to a healthier, stronger future, for our industry and for the communities we serve.
